What you’ll need?
Millet
Millet is packed with plenty of nourishing plant-based goodness especially protein and dietary fibre. Did you know that millet is one of the oldest foods known to man? Millet originates in Africa and the Indian sub-continent thousands of years ago. Because of this it is widely grown as a cereal crop.
Toppings
I topped my millet porridge with maple syrup, fresh feijoas, hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds. I found this combination delicious but you can choose whatever you prefer!

Millet and Feijoa Porridge
Ingredients
- 3 cup hulled millet Soaked overnight in water
- 2 cup water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 4 Tbsp sugar
- 1 cup almond milk
- 4 feijoas
- 4 Tbsp maple syrup
- 4 Tbsp hemp seeds
- 4 Tbsp pumpkin seeds
Instructions
- Rinse and drain the millet and put it in a small pot. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn the heat down and simmer for 10 minutes (or until the millet is fully cooked).
- Once the millet has absorbed all the water add one more cups of water, the cinnamon and sugar and stir. Add the almond milk and mix well. Blend the millet using a stick blender until it forms a thick and creamy porridge (feel free to skip this step if you like the consistency as it is). If the porridge becomes too think you can add some more milk or water.
- Divide the porridge into four bowls. Then divide the rest of the ingredients between the four bowls. I like to add the ripe feijoas first then drizzle on the maple syrup and top with with hemp and pumpkin seeds (but you can use any nuts and seeds that you like).
