Scrambled tofu on toast is a great way to start the day. It is ready in 10 minutes and provides a great source of protein to keep you going!
Why Scrambled Tofu?
Tofu is a great source of protein, particularly for vegetarian or plant-based diets. I love using tofu in cooking and have come up with a number of recipes that need it. What you’ll need?
To make this scrambled tofu on toast you’ll need:
1. Tofu
The first thing you’ll need is 300 grams of tofu. I recommend getting the firm tofu. I use my hands to crumble the tofu into the frying pan. Before I do that I usually dab the tofu block with a paper towel or a clean tea towel. This remove the excess water from the tofu and allows you to fry it rather than boil.
2. A non-stick frying pan
The easiest way to make scrambled tofu is to use a non stick frying pan. That way you can avoid the tofu burning to the bottom of the pan. I usually use a bit of oil but you can skip that step.
3. Herbs and seasoning
To make this scrambled tofu really tasty, I add a few herbs and spices including turmeric powder, paprika powder, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper, paprika powder.turmeric powder which gives this scrambled tofu a vibrant yellow colour. The nutritional yeast brings out a slightly ‘cheesy flavur’ and complements the tofu really well. If you don’t have nutritional yeast then you can leave it out.
